Dental Crowns & Bridges
If you have a decayed tooth, an injured tooth, or one or more teeth that have been lost altogether, a custom-made restoration can work wonders in rebuilding its natural appearance and function.
For instance, dental crowns are versatile restorations that are designed to cover and protect a singular tooth. Dr. Bonny may recommend a new crown in several different situations, including:
- If a tooth has suffered serious decay and can’t be corrected with a regular filling
- If a tooth is cracked/fractured and needs support
- If a tooth is weakened and has a high risk of breaking in the near future
- If a tooth has a significant cosmetic problem that can’t be corrected through other methods
- If a tooth has been lost and has a new dental implant in need of restoration
- If a tooth has been treated with root canal therapy and needs restoration
Dental crowns are also an important component of bridges, which can be used to replace consecutive lost teeth. The crowns work as anchors that fit over adjacent healthy teeth and hold the bridge securely in place.
Dental Fillings
When a patient suffers a cavity, our team can provide them with a dental filling over the course of a single appointment to repair the damage. Dr. Bonny primarily offers tooth-colored fillings, which are crafted from lifelike composite resin for an attractive and conservative result. Our practice also has amalgam fillings available, which are useful for back teeth that have to endure a lot of chewing over time.
Partial Dentures
If you’ve lost several teeth along the same arch, a personalized partial can replace them without requiring the remaining natural teeth to be removed as well. These prosthetics come in two forms – the traditional version is attached through clasps or brackets and can be removed by the patient, and the implant-retained version is anchored over strategically placed dental implants. Implant-retained partials can be removable or fixed in nature, depending on the patient’s preferences, but they offer patients added longevity and health benefits when compared to the former.
Root Canals
If you have a tooth that’s suffering from extreme sensitivity and pain, it’s likely that it’s experiencing an infection. Dr. Bonny may recommend root canal therapy in order to treat the tooth and prevent it from needing to be extracted, which our team always strives to avoid for our patients. During the process, we will carefully access the tooth’s inner chamber and remove diseased pulp and nerves from within. While many patients think of root canal therapy as a “scary” procedure, it’s actually very safe and comfortable with the help of today’s modern techniques. It’s also highly successful, and many patients are able to maintain their treated teeth for the rest of their lives.
